Interns are ready to start cranking it up to 11

Hola from Basecamp! Another week has flown by and we have been working on an plentiful array of projects ranging from furniture moving to sourcing bamboo to a bit of event planning and of course, much more. We think this is an early test to see if we are ready to tackle what Bruce has planned next!
As we near the holiday season, and in the spirit of ye olde end of year tradition of list-making and the Late Show we’re going to count down the Top Ten things we’ve learned about Gap Adventures and Basecamp since we have been here.
Here we go:
#10. Twitter generates a quicker response than email or IM. And you’ll get an answer from six more people than the intended recipient.
#9. If this wasn’t an adventure travel company, this would definitely be an adventure food company. Not a day goes by without mention of the ‘best of’ indian, caribbean, etc in Toronto, or planning for the next potluck.
#8. It’s easy to Change People’s lives and Create Happiness and Community. All you have to do is Lead with Service, Do the Right Thing, and Embracing the Bizarre never hurts!
#7. Bruce will take a Quizno’s sandwich over fresh roti. Huh?
#6. Industry firsts are the one and only way to go. Lifetime Deposits and new CEOs! Job titles are so 90’s – why do we need them? Bruce, should we call you ‘Big Cheese’ or ‘El Capo’?
#5. Can’t wait for your new catalogue to arrive? You can flip through each and every page, zoom in and print, all online. No paper cuts!
#4. You have to Embrace the Bizarre to survive here. Company-wide emails about missing forks are not uncommon.
#3. Each day brings new surprises. Will we be planning worldwide events? Editing interviews? Turning a boardroom into a Mayan Temple? Building model spaceships? You never know around here.
#2. These guys are really good at what they do! Did you see this list of awards won lately?
· Travel Pulse Reader’s Choice Awards
· Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies
· World Travel Market – World Tourism Award
· Travel & Leisure Magazine Global Vision Award
· Responsible Travel & Tourism Forum – Leadership Award
· Condé Nast Traveler – World Savers Award
#1. It’s an exciting atmosphere and a whole other world to hear people everyday talking about where they are destined next weekend. South Africa, Belize, Patagonia, the Galapagos, etc., etc.
This. Is. Awesome.
